Principal's Message

Welcome to Pitman High School!

Home of The Pride

High school is an exciting time for students as they work toward earning a diploma while preparing for adulthood.  As I watch my own children learn, I am reminded daily of how quickly children grow up and how every moment of the path they take to adulthood is important.

With the 2016 – 2017 school year, Pitman High School is entering its fifteenth year.  We are still developing and working toward our mission of “Success for Each Student”.  In addition to supporting student academic success, the Pitman community strives to strengthen character in our students.  It is our goal to teach, model and reinforce the particular traits of respect, responsibility, grit (perseverance), and zest (a passion for learning) at Pitman High School.   These qualities are key elements of being a successful learner and citizen.

In 2014, TUSD established weekly collaboration time for teachers to use to identify essential learning, evaluate student learning, and share best practices for addressing identified student needs.   To further our focus on learning and continue working toward our mission of “Success for Each Student,” we are excited to introduce “Pride Time” to the Pitman bell schedule this year.

“Pride Time” is a class period that will be devoted to supporting student learning by intervening quickly to address identified student needs for additional instruction, enrichment, or development of academic and behavioral skills.  Students will attend a class every Monday that is dedicated to guiding them in their journey through Pitman.  This may include character development, digital citizenship, presentations, and mentoring.  On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, students will attend a class based on an identified need or a class of interest chosen by the student.  Details will be shared with students at the beginning of the school year and with parents at our annual Back to School Night on Monday, August 29, 2016.

We encourage all students to become active members of The Pride by getting involved in extracurricular activities.   Confidence in one subject, performing/visual arts, sports, clubs or other activities will inevitably grow and carry over into others.  We also have many parents and community members who are striving to support Pitman students through their partnerships with us.  Please consider joining this effort whether through involvement in one of our many booster clubs, Sober Grad, or the Turlock Education Foundation, to name a few.

Pitman High School is a special place and I am excited to see where we go as we continue to focus on learning and “Success for Each Student.”  As a member of our school community, please do not hesitate to contact us with questions and areas of concern.  We look forward to partnering with you in supporting the success of each student.

Roll Pride!
